when work is slow rabbits are slow

I'm definitely in a swing of low productivity not just in terms of painting but also at work. I guess it's because it's summer but work is either crazy busy late nights or totally dead. For the past week-and-a-half it's been dead and despite being told there will be work coming I continue to sit here day after day.

It's hard to work on personal projects at work because, well, there are just so many people around and even though I know it's cool for me to work on my own stuff when it's slow, I get kind of uncomfortable with people walking by and asking about it.

The final shitty thing about the situation is that for some reason the room I'm working in is like 100 degrees while the rest of the office is a cool, comfortable 75. What gives?!

Nevertheless! After about 3 years of not working on any personal animation projects I have started work on a concept that involves some animation. Who knows if I'll ever acquire the funds and the space to make it happen but I have started to do some animation tests:

Thanks for letting me rant...

managing to be out and about

stAAAmering

Sat. night I finally managed to get my ass over to the city of Culvers to see the stAAAmering show at Lab 101 featuring work by the "AAA's" andy mueller, andy pommier and andy jenkins.

Mueller
Pommier
jenkins

There were 3 gumball machines filled with ping pong balls that each artist had done little drawings on and they were a quarter each. Such a fantastic idea (and kind of an interactive piece in itself) so I got one from each artist. Now I need a ping pong table!

ballMachinesballs

The skull face is from Pommier, the one to the left of that is mueller and the one on top is jenkins.

clean brushes, dirty face

brushes

These clean brushes are a bad sign. Got to get back to work.

More and more settled every day. Getting quite comfy in the new studio space. I'd like to share pictures but I'm feeling a little hesitant until it's up and running a bit more.

Hopefully this weekend I'll have time to catch up on some new and missed shows, especially Lilly Piri at Thinkspace that opened last weekend. She's fantastic in that creepy-cool kinda way.

Happy Thursday~

dreaming of sleeping

some beds

a bed

Although the move went fairly easily I didn't take any time off work and there is always so much to do and take care of. I've been walking around in this sleepless daze of constant forgetfulness. So much for my laid-back summer.

long time no see

This past weekend I moved from an apartment to a little house. That's my excuse for being a bit absent of late and missing last week's moleskine post. I'll double it up this week for sure.

So more on the new pad (and my new studio!) later.

Thanks for all the support for my Etsy shop!
It's been going really well and there are only 3 sisters left! Hurry and adopt one (or two or three) but if you miss them I plan on doing a new small series very soon.

Here are the three that are left:
