hearting artists
This Friday was Melissa Contreras' show "Sickly Sweet" at Black Market LA on Sawtelle.
I died over the front installation and these sculptural hanging guys.
You can view (and purchase?) work from the show here.

The Part Where I Shamelessly Self Promote...
So I've been working on this little project called "8 sisters": 8 4x6 watercolor/ink paintings.
The project came about because
a) I wanted to push myself to make a small piece of art every day for a week
b) I wanted to make some affordable artwork to sell in the shop
and
c) They were just in my head and I wanted them out
Yes, they are named after letters.
Please check out my Etsy shop to purchase one of the sisters or just browse.

In which I display my camera deficiency yet again...
I'm a bit rushed to get this stuff in the mail to Gallery AD in San Jose so here's a quick photo of them all together.

forgive me for i have sinned...
It involved a large basket of muffins, powdered sugar covered chocolate chip brownie concoctions and other sugary goodness... It's good to be bad.
But I digress...
Since I've not been able to post much about shows or anything else lately I thought I'd share a view of my little art corner. Yes, I agree it's pretty cramped but hopefully I'll be able to work in a better space soon (...).
There's a sneak peak of a painting that I finished a while ago but have had some trouble coming to terms with it really being "done" so I haven't really showed it to anyone.
You can also see my palette of water colors and some other works in progress sitting on my little work table/art storage thing.

can we talk about my new obsession with hand mirrors?

liar liar
So I did go to one art show this weekend:
Deth P. Sun at GR2 on Sawtelle. Nice group of work. Love it or hate it GR has been really important for young contemporary artists, especially asian artists and I can always get behind that. But really I just love going to shows there because it's close enough to walk to and gives me an excuse to hang out on Sawtelle and go to my favorite sushi place Hide.
I have a very sad feeling I will miss Audrey and company's show at Thinkspace on May 11 because of work. Poo is the only word that comes to mind.
If you like any one of the artists it's really going to be a good show as they are so different yet there are definitely parallels among them.
I have not forgotten about my promise to post some of the art I'm working on. It's coming...
