reassure
Happy Thursday!
I've added some small paintings on wood up in my Etsy Shop. Some are new and a couple are older but they are original and quite affordable.
As of late I've been experimenting a lot with style and color and though it's really fun I always worry about "style" and why it's not always acceptable for artists to change styles. And how do you know when you're "changing styles" and when you're just growing and expanding on what you already do? I think I've touched on this before and I think many artists struggle with these questions so I'm just putting it out there again. Sometimes I have trouble quieting the ideas in my head and feel the only thing I can do is just make shit.
Hope everyone is enjoying their winter weather in their various homes!

Happy 200!
My 200th post!! I never properly acknowledged my 100th post on here so I made myself promise to be more alert when it came time for the 200th.
YAY
ok I'm over it.
But I wanted to share some images from The Canvas Project show that I took part in, courtesy of the Art House Coop: (second row from the bottom)
I definitely plan on participating in more projects with them in the future and I highly recommend it. It's nice to have a little challenge/motivation, etc. to keep things interesting.

oh Shirt!
I'm really pleased to announce that two new shirt designs are finally available to order online from Blood is the New Black! So if you need that last minute gift I think there's still time to order!
The site was acting weird this morning so if the links don't work just find "Andrea Shear" under artists and you can purchase the shirts from there. Available for men and women.

cathing colds from the internet
In lieu of a sketchbook drawing today I'm posting a recent commission I did of some more "hanging sisters". I really love these mysterious ladies.
Did I happen to mention that I have learned almost the entire dance to Thriller? I hope I get a chance to break it out this Halloween but I've come down with an annoying little cold so we'll see. I don't even really have my zombie costume together yet.
Happy Halloween?

pressed for details
From the 'Blender' show at the Cerasoli-LeBasse Gallery 10-11-08:
Vincent Hui
Melissa Haslam
Deth P. Sun
Due to a late (but amazing) dinner with some fantastic people I got to the gallery just as they were closing so I didn't get a chance to see everything. When did galleries start closing so early?

no afterthoughts
I think it's time for a +- list:
-working too much
+making money
-family health problems
+did yoga this morning
-100 degrees outside
+Oct. is my favorite month
-lots of unfinished paintings sitting around
+lots of new paintings in the works
+new prints will soon be available in the Etsy store
I think the list could be better but I'm feeling especially tired at the moment. Probably from the heat.

from the past
This one is a bit of a blast from the past since I've been working to get most of my sketchbook pages to the DAC Gallery for the show on Sept. 11. There will be somewhere between 50-80 sketches on display which is really weird and exciting for me. They definitely tell an interesting story. There are three large groupings that will be for sale.
Also to mention:
I've made an account with ArtSlant. There are so many networking sites to be a part of these days!

I must be crazy
From this weekend:
Susie Ghahremani at Giant Robot on Sawtelle:
I loved all the hanging birds and how they cast some amazing shadows. The entire show was put together so well you can see how detail-oriented Susie is. I bought 3 new paintings: one as a gift and 2 more to go with my beloved hummingbird.
Friends United Network (FUN) at Project Gallery
Very cool and interesting show. The installation was fantastic. A large tree was hung from the ceiling and a big shadow was actually painted on the ground of the gallery.
Lab 101
Amy Ruppel. I purchased the 5th from the left (the tall one).
Kathleen Lolley. Pillows were to die for!
Wishing I could have bought more work from all the artists.
